As the Social Media and Digital Marketing Manager, I am responsible for enhancing USA Field Hockey’s audience online relationship through the website, managing social media accounts and continually improving brand reputation and consistency across all communication platforms. The mission is to increase awareness of field hockey, and USA Field Hockey, and to enhance the user experience through all of USA Field Hockey’s social media platforms.

Social Media Manager and Event Planner: The Strowd | Chapel Hill, N.C., January 2015 to February 2015
I managed and updated both of The Strowd’s social media sites, Facebook and Twitter. I used the social media sites to market campaigns to drive company awareness, inform the public of weekly specials and upcoming events. I was also the event coordinator who publicized all types of events ranging from fundraisers to holiday parties to hosting music production agents. I uploaded photos of events hosted for the public to see. I also am responsible for using Photoshop and generating event flyers.

As the interim assistant coach for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s field hockey team, I was responsible for recruiting and player development. I also continued my role as the Director of Operations.

Social Media Manager: Compassion It | San Diego, C.A., September 2012 to January 2017
Compassion It is a social movement that inspires compassionate action in the lives of every person we reach. We believe that when you “compassion it” in your daily life, you can positively impact the entire world. I manage and update Compassion It’s social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest. I update the fan base of the movement and how it is positively impacting people around the world. I upload videos, photos and web article links for information and awareness about compassion.

Director of Operations: University of North Carolina Varsity Field Hockey | Chapel Hill, N.C., July 2012 to December 2014
I diddaily operations for the UNC Field Hockey team. I planned and managed all of the team’s travel including flights, hotels, buses and meals on the road. I planned celebratory events for the team and do all paper work in season regarding playoffs, including both Atlantic Coast Conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association. I started a monthly newsletter which is sent out to alumni and friends of UNC Field Hockey.

Summer Intern: PMG Sports | Cary, N.C., June 2012 to July 2012
I managed and updated both of PMG Sports’ social media sites, Facebook and Twitter. I started their YouTube channel for their sister company The Trending 10. I wrote blogs for and about the athletes of PMG Sports as well as for The Trending 10, powered by CelebExperts, and I also wrote blogs for another sister company, Gold Medal Greats.

I helped start, manage and update both of Nedstar Field Hockey USA’s social media sites, Facebook and Twitter. Nedstar is a progressive field hockey brand that was founded in 1999 in South Africa and migrated to the United States in 2010. I use the social media sites to market campaigns to drive brand awareness, engage followers and manage traffic flow. I coordinate with followers about the new merchandise and where it is available for purchase. I upload photos to both social media sites of athletes using Nedstar equipment.

BounceBack Kids: Service Learning Project | Chapel Hill, N.C., Fall 2010
As part of a Public Relations Writing course, I had to do 30-hours of a service learning project for a nonprofit organization. The organization I worked with was BounceBack Kids, a Section 501(c) (3) nonprofit whose mission is to bring together and serve kids with life-challenging medical conditions to enrich the lives of participants and their families. Throughout the semester, I made various marketing, advertising and communication pieces that can be found under PORTFOLIO.

Freedom Lax Classic: Sports Marketing Fictional Sporting Event | Summer 2011
As part of a Sports Marketing and Advertising course, in a group we produced a fictional sporting event that dealt with sponsorship, advertising, merchandising and the effects of commercialization. Eyes Ears Nose and Paws: Public Relations Campaigns Project | Fall 2011
As part of a Public Relations Campaigns course, in a group we helped a real-world client. The client we worked with was Eyes Ears Nose and Paws, Inc., a nonprofit organization located in Carrboro, North Carolina that trains and places service and diabetic assistance dogs as well as provide ongoing support to working assistance dog teams that have graduated through the programs. Throughout the semester, we worked with restaurants and small businesses in the Chapel Hill-Carbarro, North Carolina area on raising awareness of service and assistance dogs.
